4 day EPIC wedding with Aanchal and Rajat!
Hello everybody! If you are in Edmonton, then I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous Labour Day! Today is a special blog post. Not only am I posting Aanchal and Rajat's CRAZY AWESOME 4 day wedding, but we are introducing a NEW blog format! We are getting our brides involved too, because nobody can tell the story of the day like the bride! So look forward to more wedding blogposts with a more personal feel!
So take it away, Aanchal!
Tell us about your venues:
We attended a good friend's wedding a few years ago and loved the Oasis for its unique ambience and the Marriot for its incredible service and beautiful ballroom. With the help of some very talented decorators, we were able to transform each venue into a moroccan indian sangeet, a modern elegance wedding, and a romantic crystal reception!
The Oasis Conference Centre:
The Marriott at River Cree Resort:
The Meridian Banquet Hall:
The Dress:
I went shopping in India for all of my wedding outfits and jewelery. On day 1 in store 1, I fell in love insantly with my wedding day outfit. It was a perfect combination of bling and elegance!
The Shoes:
Over the course of planning for our big wedding week, I spent alot of time personalizing little details. The idea for the shoes came from an online DIY blog. I loved the concept of personalizing my shoes and found the rhinestone stickers from Michaels (a frequent stop in the past year).
Hair and Makeup:
Trust Sonia Sajnani to make a girl look gorgeous for her wedding day. I had no doubt she would take good care of me on all 3 days and each day she made sure I looked different from the event before!
Groom's Attire:
Rajat rocked his wedding outfit from head to toe. The funny thing is he had his outfit before I had mine!
The Bouquet:
I rocked a bouquet created for me by the team at La Piassa. It was the perfect combination of East meets West, complete with indianized rhinestone pins and rich reds, oranges, and burgandys.
The Centrepieces:
The credit for our gorgeous reception centerpieces goes completely to Rajat's mom, who owns a Grower Direct. Each table looked like its own little lush garden and she made sure to include some favorites such as gerbera daisies and white lillies.
The Honeymoon:
We took off to Jamaica in mid-August and soaked up the Jamaican heat!
Your Most Memorable Moment of the Day:
The wedding week was the most incredible and emotional week of my life. One moment that stands out is making eye contact with Rajat as I (a bundle of nerves) walked down the aisle. It made this crazy two year ride worthwhile when I saw my groom and knew I get to spend the rest of my life with him :)
Thank you Aanchal for the close look into your wedding week! We feel very lucky to have been a part of your grand wedding.
And here are a very few photos just to get a TINY taste of the week of festivities! There's just TOO many things to all show on one blogpost, so definitely watch the slideshow below to get a real feel of the four days!
The wedding started with a Sangeet Party on Day 1. What's a party without a little silliness? Here Rajat is force fed some sweets... hahaha
The day was filled with food, dancing...
...and touching speeches that Aanchal and Rajat enjoyed listening to.
Day 2 started in the morning with the Maiyan at Aanchal's house:
and later in the evening, the Henna party to get Aanchal all dolled up for the big day coming up!
It always amazes me how intricate and detailed it is!
And simultaneously, another Henna party at Rajat's house.
Day 3 started early at Rajat's house for the Vatna. Now it was his turn to get smeared! And his friends definitely took advantage of the opportunity. hahaha
Meanwhile, at Aanchal's place, it was the Chura ceremony.
Later that day, Rajat got ready for his wedding at the Sehra ceremony...
...while Aanchal prepared for the wedding too!
The jewelery to match her dress
And finally, the Baraat! Rajat rode in on a horse to greet Aanchal's family. This wedding was finally really happening!
And the ceremony is about to begin!
It was a beautiful ceremony at the Oasis!
And then the photoshoot! Here is the huge wedding party!
And finally, probably the first quiet, calm time together the couple got to spend all week.
Can you say beautiful???
So sweet together!
And still sharing laughs!
The Oasis maintains a really nice garden.
And here Rajat bargains with the bridesmaids to get his shoes back. We won't say how much it cost... it was a lot. =)
Back to Aanchal's house for the Doli. But first, Rajat had to earn his way into her parents' home by performing well on a bunch of "tests".
He didn't always produce satisfactory results...
But eventually he earned his way in, and the Doli proceeded.
It's always the most emotional part of the wedding. Daddy really loves his princess. It was so sweet.
And the final goodbye to the bride!
Now comes Day 4, the reception! We snuck outside the River Cree Resort to snap a few quick photos!
It was a hot evening!
But they rocked the photos, as usual!
There were MANY amazing dance performances!
And Aanchal and Rajat made their grand entrance on a bicycle rickshaw! It was awesome!
Some of the most amazing dancing was done by the youngest people! These guys stole the show!
And this little girl was beyond adorable!
The two moms even performed in a dance together. How awesome is that? I can't imagine how much practice went into all these dance performances!
And then it was finally time for the first dance.
And here came the part that Aanchal and Rajat have been looking forward to... the FINAL PARTY! No more ceremonies or program left, it was REALLY time for everyone to let loose. And did they ever!
Aanchal and Rajat... words cannot really express the experience of shooting your wedding. It was such a grand celebration of family, friends, ceremony, tradition, food, beauty, and love. I truly feel lucky to be a part of your day! Congratulations to you both!
