Marla and Chris at the gorgeous Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge!
It was such a wonderful treat to shoot Marla and Chris' wedding at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge! The season had changed to autumn, it was a very cold 3 degrees outside, but what a fantastic day! Anyhow I'll let Marla do the talking:
Tell us about your venues:
We chose to get married in Jasper, a place close to both of our hearts. Before we even knew about each other's existence, we had both developed a passion for the area. Quite unusual considering Chris is British and I am an Alberta girl. Who knows? Maybe our paths did cross somewhere on these mountains all those years ago?
What was the style or theme?
Our wedding was a mixture of themes. We hoped that it would express our unique life experiences and personalities. Chris wore his medals reflecting his past service with the British military and the awards he received from the Queen.
The Dress:
My Italian-made wedding dress was purchased in Geneva and reflected my style and personality perfectly: short and sassy!
Your Accessories:
A 1950's pillbox hat originally from Saks 5th Ave completed the look and added a bit of fun to the day.
Groom, Groomsmen, and Bridesmaids attire:
What's a wedding without a little drama? Chris' best man Max's suit never arrived from London. Thanks to a little help from the staff at Jasper Park Lodge, we borrowed a suit that fit- just in time for the ceremony! My brother Quinn, who stood beside me as my "maid of honour" spoke about the biblical context of marriage and successfully managed to match his ipad cover to the wedding flowers as well!
The Wedding Flowers:
Hope springs eternal and even at a fall wedding, the colour green inspires new life and new growth.
Your Details:
Our wedding cake in the shape of an Inukshuk; a stone landmark used for navigation and to provide direction and a feature my father likes to build in his gardens. This was a reminder that our direction is set together with an eye on the horizon.
Your Most Memorable Moment of the Day:
There were so many memorable moments but the best part was simply being married. Nothing else during the day mattered except becoming Mr and Mrs. I think you can see the joy in our eyes having finally completed the first step of our journey together.
And here are some other shots from the day!
Congratulations again Marla and Chris! Thank you for letting us be a part of your day! We really had SO much fun!
