Rural Beauty with Amanda and Evan! A fusion presentation.
I was so thrilled to shoot Amanda and Evan's wedding. It was out in the Wetaskiwin area. The ceremony would be held on Evan's family farmland, and the reception at Amanda's parents' backyard. An intimate celebration with only the very closest of friends and family! These are my favourite kinds of weddings! So saying I was super pumped up for it was an understatement! Anyhow, I'll shut up now and let Amanda tell us about her day!
Tell us about your venues:
The ceremony was held at the groom's spectatcular family farm overlooking Coal Lake. We got married on the edge of a small cliff that overlooked the water and with the weather being 24 degrees and sunny we got some amazing views. The reception was held at my parents' house where my dad made our buffet style food and barbequed the rib eye steaks and chicken. It was delicious. Their backyard had recently had the deck redone and with the wood being cedar it added a really nice effect.
What was the style or theme?
Not really a theme but I suppose a style. I really wanted an elegant but fun wedding. I didn't want to be limited by tradition so I mixed it up and just did exactly what I wanted.
The Dress:
My dress was a gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress that I actually found in the first dress store I went to and within the first hour of trying dresses on. Only a few brides can say that they found their dress within the first hour. They had crystals that went across the top of the dress and down the left side with a silk flow to the bottom half. When altering the dress I was told that this is the most difficult dress to alter as it is almost all backless with no straps to hold anything up. They had to take out all of the beadwork on the top to do bust darts but it looked the same after it was done and I was amazed.
Your Shoes:
The shoes I found in the same store and I loved them as soon as I put them on. They were comftorable, white silk and had an almost broach like piece on the front that matched well with my dress.
Hair and Makeup:
Hair and makeup was done by Styles and the City who are based out of Edmonton. They drove down to Wetaskiwin and did mine and my ladies hair and kept it fun and relaxing. They also brought champage and orange juice and croissnats for breakfast!
Groom, Groomsmen, and Bridesmaids attire:
The boys' tuxes were bought in the same place I got my dress. The bridesmaids I got really lucky with. I was walking around the mall and walked past Le Chateau and saw these blue dresses that looked like the color I wanted. I went in and they were perfect! Not only perfect, but on sale ad had the right sizes. Lucky.
The Wedding Flowers:
My flowers were blue and white roses with white lilys as well. I loced the blue and white colors and they added a hint of silver to the leaves.
The Honeymoon:
Not until January. But we are going to the Riviera Maya for 2 wonderful weeks.
Your Most Memorable Moment of the Day:
When we got to let loose and play beer pong for the rest of the night! We had two tables set up. Oh and when the police decided to show up due to the noise.
Hahaha I feel like I missed out because I had actually left before the police showed up. That would have been a funny picture!
Anyhow, on to a couple more photos:
Evan thought it would be funny to do the altered perspective shot! We put him about 100ft away to get the right size. Hahaha
Seeing as how we were in the middle of prairieland Alberta, it would be a shame to not take advantage of the canola fields!
LOVE Amanda's eyes. They are beautiful!
First Dance
It was such a fun wedding focused on the people and the celebration. Thank you Amanda and Evan for the opportunity to shoot such a lovely wedding. It was honestly such a treat to be in such a beautiful part of our fair province.
