Allison and Jason rock the day!
Moving on through our busy wedding schedule, we had the pleasure of photographing Allison and Jason's beautiful wedding! We met Allison and Jason through two of our previous weddings, so it was like a reunion to see so many familiar faces! So much fun!
Tell us about your venues:
We chose the Church (St. Thomas More) as it was close to our house and one of the only larger Catholic Churches that was left for our day!! The U of A Faculty Club was easy to choose, located on Saskatchewan Drive valley. It has big beautiful bay windows that showcases part of downtown Edmonton and our gorgeous river valley. We also loved the warm feeling of the club.
What was the style or theme?
I wanted the wedding decor to be simple but beautiful. I am obsessed with the Teal color which I chose as the main color of the wedding. I centered everything around that color, white and small yellow accents were chosen as well as they contrast so nicely with the teal.
The Dress:
The dress was the very first wedding task completed. As like other brides to be I poured over over bridal magazines and online searching for the "one". I found it in a pretty Martina Liana dress that had a detachable skirt and was a cocktail dress underneath!! I located the bridal shop that carried this designer in the city. Made an appt. and tried on THE dress......it was not the one. Its true what you like and what looks good on you can be very different. Luckily my wonderful sales lady Corinna (Owner of Pure Bridal) found me my dress!!! It was a stunning beaded, a-line dress with pockets also by Martina Liana.
Your Shoes:
My dress had almost a silvery, sparkly sheen to it, so I chose to go with silver shoes. After searching for awhile for a pretty pair that would also be "comfy" I found them on sale at Feet First. They were pretty yet comfy with not an enormous heel.
Hair and Makeup:
Jason loves when my hair is up with a few pieces down so I wanted it styled as such. (Styled at Kyro Hair) I always envisioned my hair simple done and to the side of my head so my wonderful stylist created a simple yet beautiful sort of side chignon. For make - up I wanted to look well beautiful of course :) I wanted it to be more dramatic then what I would normally wear but still soft I feel Michelle by Mimi - Make-up created just that look for me. The make- up looks were inspired by a Covergirl ad with Drew Barry more and a different ad with Scarlet Johanson.
Groom, Groomsmen, and Bridesmaids attire:
Jason decided to purchase a good quality suit for the wedding day instead of wearing a tux. He found a fabulous dark grey Canalli suit that he looked absolutely handsome in. The Groomsmen all wore black suits that they owned with ties given to them by Jason as wedding presents.
My Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids all wore cute strapless Teal cocktail dresses from Alfred Sung, that like my dress had pockets! I love pockets :) The girls all wore sparkly necklaces that I gave them as my thanks for putting up with me.
The Wedding Flowers:
I really let my florist choose the flowers I just showed her the style I liked and the colors and put my trust in her abilities. She did a wonderful job.
Your Details:
My centerpieces as well I let Coral my florist do her thing. I told her I wanted white and splashes of yellow. I did specify football mums as they are such a pretty and simple flower that is also big and fluffy. The pots the centerpieces were in were a great find by my mom. She found them in the garden department at Wal- Mart for cheap! The cake as with everything else I wanted to be simple but elegant. It turned out great and tasted DELICIOUS. There was a fresh flower on each of the three tiers. We had a candy bar which was also the favors for our guests. Candy is something Jason and I both love. So we thought it would be a fun and yummy favor for our guests We had so much fun picking out all that candy at Bulk Barn. There were gummy bears, Mike and Ikes, peach slices, cherries, sour watermelons and more!
Your Most Memorable Moment of the Day:
All of it, I could not possibly pick out one exact moment. FINALLY marrying my love and best friend was truly wonderful. The whole day was awesome!
Thank you Allison for the details of your wedding! It was immensely enjoyable and yes, we really loved the vibrancy and life of the teal colour. Beautiful!
Back to the photos... Allison waits as she gets her dress laced:
And Jason gets done up too!
Four in a row!
Four not quite in a row... but super pretty!~
One thing I REALLY love about Allison and Jason is how much they laugh together. It's really adorable!
Allison looks like she's straight off a magazine cover!
The entire crew:
Flying Asian style... hahaha.
And now the two of them enjoying some 'together' time.
Then came the reception. And like at any Asian wedding, there are games. Embarrassing games. =) Those are the best kinds!
The "guess which one is your wife" game. Jason got an unexpected kiss on the lips for this one.
First dance!
And finally, time to kick it into high gear for the party!
Thanks a billion guys! We loved the calm, cheer and laughs that were had throughout the day. Congratulations to you and your families! It was really a beautiful celebration, and we're lucky to have been a part of it!
